Jolana Slavíková

Mezzo-soprano

Born in the Czech Republic, she studied violin from a very early age and sang in a variety of choirs.

After winning singing prizes at the Prague Conservatoire, she travelled to Frankfurt where she studied under Hedwig Fassbender.

In 2016/2017, she sang Il Destino in Cavalli’s La Calisto at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) at the Oper Frankfurt in a production for young audiences, Karolka in Jenufa at the Liberec Opera in Czech, Young Tree in Benjamin Britten’s Paul Bunyan staged by Brigitte Fassbaender at the Oper Frankfurt, Adone in Alessandro Scarlatti’s Il Giardino d’Amore with the baroque orchestra HfMDK in Frankfurt, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat  at the Prague International Music Festival.

In 2017-18, she sang Pepa in Tiefland at the Capitole in Toulouse, Musetta (La Bohème) in Liberec.

Since September 2018, she has been a member of the Thüringer Opernstudio and has sung with great success, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Oscar (Un ballo di maschera) at the Deutsches National Theater Weimar, Sandman and Dewman (Hansel und Gretel), Noémie (Cendrillon) and Amore (Orpheus und Eurydike) at the Theater Nordhausen, Vlasta (Die Passagierin) at the Theater Altenburg in Gera.

In 2019/2020, she perfomed Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Deutsches National Theater Weimar, and later joined the ensemble of the Staatsoperette Dresden. Here, she has performed Stasi (Csardasfürstin), Valencienne (Die Lustige Witwe), Nella (Gianni Schicchi) and Sandmann (Hänsel und Gretel.) After the birth of her child, Jolana participated in the Eva Marton Competition as a Mezzo and won the Special Prize of the Hungarian State Opera and a concert tour with the Alto Part in Bach’s Matthäus-Passion.

Projects include Souza (Die polnische Hochzeit) at Staatsoperette Dresden and Kuchtik (Rusalka) at Theater Erfurt.
