Nicola Beller Carbone, a performer who is equally in demand for her vocal prowess and stagecraft, made her professional mark with roles such as Salome and Katerina Izmailova (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), which she has performed in numerous theatres in Germany and further afield.

Born in Germany, she pursued her secondary and higher education in Spain. She graduated with diplomas in Music Studies from the Escuela Superior di Canto di Madrid and, after further study with Astrid Varnay, joined the Opera Studio of the Munich Staatsoper. At the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, she sang Fiordiligi, Contessa, Tatyana, Mimi, Liu, Violetta, Antonia, etc…

In 2002, she moved towards a more spinto repertoire, making her debut in Salome in Osnabrück, followed by Essen, and Weimar. She has performed Tosca in Braunschweig, Athens, Nantes and Nice, Ariadne auf Naxos in Darmstadt, Marie (Wozzeck) in Essen and in Graz, Katerina Izmailova (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) in St Gallen, Berlin, Weimar, Monte Carlo, Toronto, Sieglinde (Die Walküre) in Weimar,Turandot (Busoni) at the Macerata Festival, Eleonore (Krenek’s Karl V) at the Bregenzer Festspiele and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) in Lyon.

Nicola also performs roles Spanish operatic repertoire such as Pepita Jimenez by Albéniz (Calixto Bieito’s award-winning production) and recently, Soléa in El Gato Montés by Manuel Penella and Fabia (El caballero de Olmedo) at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid.

Recent and future engagements: Die Jakobsleiter by Schönberg with the Berliner Phlharmoniker, « Otages » by Sebastian Rivas in Lyon, Frau von Luber (Der Silbersee / The Silver Lake) by Weill in Nancy, Odette (7 Minuti by Giorgio Battistelli) at the Opéra de Lyon… She will also be directing Domitila by João Guilherme Ripper at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid.

Nicola gives regular Masterclasses at the Bayerische Staatsoper München and Fundacion Alfredo Kraus, Gran Canaria.
